Why Coastal Bend industrial roofs are different
The Port of Corpus Christi moved more than 200 million tons through the Corpus Christi Ship Channel in 2025, and the area is home to refineries, petrochemical plants, terminals and the businesses that serve them. Those buildings sit in some of the harshest roofing conditions in Texas.
Chemical and process exposure. Exhausts, oils and process fallout can attack roof membranes. PVC holds up better than most to these.
Salt air and humidity. Close to the bay and the ship channel, corrosion of metal roof parts is constant.
Wind. These are coastal counties with windstorm code requirements, and many industrial buildings are large and exposed.
Lightning. Tall, isolated structures on flat coastal land draw strikes. A UL-approved lightning protection system protects the building and what is inside it.
Roof systems that work for plants and facilities
PVC single-ply for chemical, oil and grease resistance, including prefabricated Duro-Last systems that reduce field seams.
TPO single-ply for warehouses, shops and buildings without heavy chemical exposure.
Roof coatings to extend the life of sound metal or membrane roofs on outbuildings.
Metal roof repair and retrofit for older metal buildings common around industrial sites.
Working inside a plant
Industrial owners need a roofer who plans around operations: work windows, permits, site safety orientation, hot work rules and keeping crews out of process areas. Every Nelson Roof Contracting job is supervised, and we schedule work so your operations keep running.
